Place Of Refuge

Father's Day is a holiday of honouring fatherhood and paternal bonds, as well as the influence of fathers in society. In Catholic countries of Europe, it has been celebrated on 19 March as Saint Joseph's Day since the Middle Ages. In the United States, Father's Day was founded by Sonora Smart Dodd, and celebrated on the third Sunday of June for the first time in 1910. The day is held on various dates across the world and different regions maintain their own traditions of honouring fatherhood.

On this Father's Day, we wanted to take a few moments to offer some words of encouragement and appreciation to all the Fathers who have chosen to worship with us.

In a world that continues to attack Fatherhood in so many ways, we want you to know that we honor you and pray for you not only on this day but throughout the year. It seems we are bombarded with television shows and commercials which intend to diminish the role of the Father into someone they are not, especially God-fearing Dads.

  • Proverbs 20:7

The lovers of God will walk in integrity, and their children are fortunate to have godly parents as their examples.

  • Proverbs 4:1-2

  • Proverbs 22:6

  • Matthew 7:9-11

Do you know of any parent who would give his hungry child, who asked for food, a plate of rocks instead? Or when asked for a piece of fish, what parent would offer his child a snake instead? If you, imperfect as you are, know how to lovingly take care of your children and give them what’s best, how much more ready is your heavenly Father to give wonderful gifts to those who ask him

  • Proverbs 3:11-12

My child, when the Lord God speaks to you, never take his words lightly, and never be upset when he corrects you. For the Father’s discipline comes only from his passionate love and pleasure for you. Even when it seems like his correction is harsh, it’s still better than any father on earth gives to his child.

  • 2 Timothy 3:15-17

Remember what you were taught from your childhood from the Holy Scrolls which can impart to you wisdom to experience everlasting life through the faith of Jesus, the Anointed One! Every Scripture has been written by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness. Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you.

  • Proverbs 14:26

Confidence and strength flood the hearts of the lovers of God who live in awe of him, and their devotion provides their children with a place of shelter and security.

  • Psalm 1013:3

The same way a loving father feels toward his children—that’s but a sample of your tender feelings toward us, your beloved children, who live in awe of you.

  • Proverbs 17:6

Grandparents have the crowning glory of life: grandchildren! And it’s only proper for children to take pride in their parents.

  • 3 John 1:4

It is the greatest joy of my life to hear that my children are consistently living their lives in the ways of truth!
